Barkin Bacon Dog Biscuits

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup powdered milk
1 teaspoon galic powder
1 tablespoon wheat germ
1 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
1/3 cup bacon grease
1 egg
1/2 cup ice water

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a medium bowl, combine whole wheat flour, powdered milk, garlic powder, wheat germ and beef bouillon granules. Mix in the bacon grease and then the egg.

Add the ice water - 1 tablespoon at a time - until the dough is wet enough to stick together.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/2-inch thickness and cut dough with cookie cutters. Place the biscuits 1-inch apart onto an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until firm. Cool completely before serving.


Homemade Dog Biscuits with Meat

2 1/2 cups sifted whole wheat flour
1/2 cup dry milk powder
1 cube beef bouillon, crumbled
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup cooked ground beef or chicken or turkey or pork
1 cup grated carrot
6 tablespoons shortening
1 egg
1/2 cup cold water

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Lightly grease two cookie sheets.

In a medium sized bowl, combine whole wheat flour, milk powder, beef bouillon, and salt. Add the ground meat, carrot, shortening and egg. Gradually add water into flour mixture until a stiff ball of dough forms.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough until 1/4-inch thick. Using a cookie cutter, cut out shapes. Reroll and roll scraps until all dough is used. Place cookies on cookie sheet 2-inches apart.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the bottom of cookies are brown. Let cookies cool on cookie sheet for a few minutes before putting on wire racks. Cool completely.
